Our team of board certified physicians and healthcare professionals understand your anxiety, and it is our goal at the Breast Imaging Center to make your visit as comfortable and efficient as possible. In addition to the regular interpretation by the radiologist, you can now have your mammogram analyzed by the R2 Image Checker, a computer-aided detection program. In a study of 13,000 patients, use of the Image Checker has demonstrated a 20% increase in the early detection of breast cancer. This technology is very new, and the charge for this service may not be reimbursed by your insurance company. If you wish to have your mammogram analyzed by the Image Checker, please inform the scheduler. An additional fee of $25 will be collected at time of service. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. When you call for an appointment, you will be asked a series of questions to determine if you may need a Screening Mammogram for patients with no breast symptoms, a Diagnostic Mammogram for evaluation of a lump, discharge, or other breast symptom, or a Recall because of an area of concern on your Screening Mammogram. To prepare for your appointment: Dress in a comfortable two piece outfit. Avoid wearing deodorant, powders or creams. Bring original films of any previous mammograms not performed here at the Breast Imaging Center or any other X-Ray Associates of New Mexico facilities (X-Ray Associates at Santa Fe and Northwest Imaging Center).
